TACHIYOMI ( 立ち読み ) - 2
Hello Everybody,
When you fly or use other vehicles to a place for any reasons, you might immediately notice that those who read the most are Japanese, Americans and Europeans. The rest, which is from the third group,is not worth of mentioning.( Especially trash reading people...)
Reading level can be measured by paper consuming. Let's have a look at the amount of paper per-capita in some countries:
Units: kilograms/person/year 2005
Finland FIN 324.97
United States USA 297.05
Japan JPN 233.55
Germany DEU 231.65
Netherlands NLD 227.38
Sweden SWE 219.98
Italy ITA 205.71
United Kingdom GBR 201.20
Malaysia MYS 114.78
Greece GRC 105.29
South Africa ZAF 69.01
Saudi Arabia SAU 41.80
Turkey TUR 27.30
The average European uses 130 kilos of paper a year-the equivalent of two trees. The average American uses more than twice as much - a staggering 330 kilos a year.(297.05 kg in 2005)
What do these figures show us??? I hope you grasp the importance of reading...
Of course, I do not imply that wasting is a nice thing!!! Never waste anything!

thank you very much for your writing Mr.Yanar, it is very important point, i agree with you but in my opinion peeople don't have enough knowledge. Turkey has lots of forests. The deficiency comes from people. We should think how we can teach people using papers in worthwhile ways...
